Researcher-Resident Exchange

Science Cafés

Various research and educational institutions in Tsukuba provide casual venues near train stations and other accessible locations where researchers and citizens can freely discuss the joys of science. To communicate research outcomes and significance to more citizens and make science accessible and enjoyable, these events feature creative content like collaborations across different research fields. Recently, live YouTube streaming has been added for those unable to attend in person. Whether on-site or via livestream, opportunities to casually enjoy science with a cup of tea in hand are abundant.

Let’s talk over a cup of tea!

Tsukuba City is home to residents from truly many countries. It also hosts numerous Japanese individuals active globally, each with diverse backgrounds. “Let’s talk over a cup of tea!” is an event where guests share their homeland's history, culture, current state and challenges, approaches to addressing these challenges, and connections to Tsukuba (Japan), fostering shared understanding among participants.

Lunch Meetings

We regularly hold meetings where universities and research institutions exchange information and interact over lunch, introducing each other to large-scale experimental facilities and research and development activities. These gatherings facilitate discussions on further developing the Tsukuba region and foster exchanges of views on various themes.
