Hitachi Seaside Park

Enjoy diverse flower fields throughout the seasons. Its spring blue nemophila fields and autumn hills of crimson kochia are world-renowned, offering a place to fully appreciate the beauty of nature and flowers. The park also boasts a variety of recreational facilities, including an amusement park, cycling courses, and athletic courses. (1)(2)

Fukuroda Falls

Boasting a height of 120 meters and a width of 73 meters, this waterfall is counted among Japan's Three Great Waterfalls and is one of Ibaraki's representative tourist attractions. Its mystical scenery, which changes with the seasons, captivates many visitors. Buses run from Fukuroda Station, and the Fukuroda Falls Tunnel, a viewing facility, allows easy access to this magnificent natural wonder, contributing to its popularity. (1)(3)

Mount Tsukuba

Comprising two peaks, Mount Nantai and Mount Nyotai, it is a renowned mountain in the Kanto region, often called “Fuji in the West, Tsukuba in the East,” and is counted among Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. You can easily reach the summit via cable car or ropeway, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Kanto Plain. You can also visit the Tsukubasan Shrine. (1)(4)

Nakaminato Fish Market

Approximately one million people visit annually to purchase fresh local fish, tuna, squid, and more at reasonable prices. Numerous eateries within the market offer seafood bowls, sushi, and conveyor-belt sushi, perfect for enjoying a meal while walking around. Aqua World Ibaraki Prefecture Oarai Aquarium

This large aquarium features Japan's largest variety of shark species and one of the world's largest dedicated sunfish tanks. Highlights include the massive “Encounter Sea” tank recreating Ibaraki's ocean, dolphin and sea lion ocean live shows, jellyfish tanks, the World's Oceans zone, and a touch pool. It also boasts a well-equipped food court and cafes, popular restaurants serving seafood delicacies, and souvenir shops stocked with local specialties. (1)(6)
